This institution was established in 1968 under the name Government Inter College for Women to promote the education of women in Sheikhupura. In 1972, when the Government of Pakistan nationalized all private colleges, Fatima Jinnah College, a local college, was merged into the Inter College for Women. In 1973, the Government of Punjab upgraded the college to degree level. This was the first college in the Sheikhupura district, providing women of the region with opportunities for higher education. Classes for FA, FSc, BA, and BSc were offered, and in October 1986, on the orders of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, MA classes were introduced. Initially, MA Islamic Studies was launched, followed by MA (Urdu) and MA (English) in 2015. In 2021, in line with the Government Education Policy, MA classes were discontinued, and BS classes were introduced.
